Following the collapse of the previous developer in the middle of construction, Newby was appointed by Santander to manage the development of Milliners Wharf through to completion.

Milliners Wharf is situated on the site of the former Hat Box factory, the first phase of this DG3 designed new build apartment scheme comprises 261 studio, one, two and three bed apartments with associated commercial. Located on the Ashton Canal corridor the development provides water view apartments just 2 miles from Manchester City Centre.


Newby managed the construction, sales, legals, and project accounting for the development. Newby critically appraised all specifications, sales and marketing information to target project savings required for funding objectives. This resulted in an £800,000 saving to the original contract sum.
Newby project managed the construction amendments, variation management and all claims in association with the contractor. The final delivery of the project was on time and on budget. The completed development was then sold by Santander to a third party.
